AGC of America President Mark Knight and AGC of America CEO Steve Sandherr will share what is happening in the industry across the nation and what issues AGCA is supporting or fighting in Congress and in federal agencies. This breakfast will get you on the fast track of the national construction industry political scene.
Mark Knight is President of Foothills Contracting, Inc., a family owned construction business based in South Dakota. Mark has been actively involved in AGC at local and national levels since 1986. He currently serves on and the Associated General Contractors of America board of directors as President and serves on the Board of Directors for AGC of South Dakota, Inc.
Mark has also served as Chair of the Highway and Transportation Division, Open Shop Committee, Equipment Committee, Co-Chair for NPHQ, and served on the Education and Research Foundation Board. He is past Chairman of The Road Information Program and currently serves on their board, he is also a member of the Consulting Constructors Council.
Stephen Sandherr joined the AGC of America staff in 1984 as Assistant Director of Collective Bargaining Services. From 1986 to 1989 he served as AGC’s Director of Congressional Relations. He rejoined AGC as Executive Director of Congressional Relations in 1991 and was promoted to Chief Executive Officer in 1997.
Currently, as Chief Executive Officer, Steve’s role is to maintain relations with AGC’s 93 chapters nationwide, coordinate government relations activities and enhance AGC’s involvement with business coalitions. CEO Update, which tracks people in association and non-profit executive careers, listed Steve as a top CEO in 2009, and a Capitol Hill newspaper, The Hill, listed Steve as a top lobbyist for the last seven years, representing the only commercial construction industry association on the Top Lobbyists of 2009 – 2015 lists.
