AGC Safety Professional Receives Prestigious Award
Kevin Wheatcroft, one of AGC’s safety management consultants, was awarded the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) Columbia-Willamette Chapter’s Safety Professional of the Year (SPY) award at the ASSE Officer Installation Banquet at the Widmer Brewing Company on Saturday, June 27. This is a long established annual award that recognizes exceptional safety contributions to industry by leadership and outstanding representation of the safety and health profession.
There’s no surprise that Kevin received this award. He has worked as a safety management consultant for the chapter for the past three years, supporting members throughout the Willamette Valley. He provides training and support for general and specialty contractors for safety culture and program development. In his tenure at AGC, Kevin has displayed a talent for communicating safety concepts in an understandable fashion to contractor employees at all levels of their organizations. In addition, he currently serves as the AGC Safety and Health Council liaison and as chapter liaison to Oregon OSHA’s Construction Advisory Committee.
Beyond the construction industry, Kevin has expanded his safety efforts to the larger community by teaching OSHA 10-hour classes to high school seniors, explaining general safety concepts to nearly 200 students. These classes are specifically targeted to high school seniors who are likely to enter the workforce through a trade school or community college.
The SPY award is conveyed annually to recognize a safety professional who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in the safety field while making significant contributions to advancing the safety profession. The recipient of the award is selected by ASSE’s Technical and Professional Recognition Committee.
Congratulations Kevin!
