Mike recently joined the Oregon-Columbia Chapter as the newest member of the Public and Strategic Affairs Team. He will be providing legal and regulatory analysis, legislative bill drafting, as well as supporting Public and Strategic Affairs Director John Rakowitz with state government relations.
Mike comes to us from the Association of Oregon Counties (AOC), where he had been since 2008. He began his career at AOC as a lobbyist and moved to deputy legal counsel before becoming legal counsel in early 2012. His portfolio consisted of several issues he will be working on at AGC, including public contracting, prevailing wage, and transportation. Mike has a B.A. from Western Washington University, received his law degree from Willamette University, and is a member of the Oregon State Bar. During law school, Mike worked for the Oregon Department of Justice and Oregon Department of Corrections before beginning a legal research internship with AOC. Prior to law school, he worked in the finance and insurance industries.
Mike enjoys spending time with his wife Sally and son Grant. He also greatly enjoys playing and watching numerous sports, including baseball, basketball, football and golf. Despite living in Oregon since 2004, he remains a dedicated fan of the Washington Huskies and is resigned to receiving the abuse that comes along with being a Husky fan.
Join AGC in welcoming Mike to the staff!
